The Parish Council is the first tier of local government and administratively covers the area of the parish of Lidlington. There are nine councillors who are elected every four years, of which there is a Chairman and Vice Chairman who are both elected annually.

The Parish Council is the Lighting Authority for the parish although some street lights are controlled by the unitary authoiry. The Council administers the allotments in Sheep Tick End and controls contracts for the grass cutting of certain verges and amenity areas.

The Parish Council is a consultee for planning applications submitted to the local planning authority Central Bedfordshire Council, and finally the Parish Council works in close contact with the Village Hall Management Committee and Lidlington United Sports Club, the organisation that manages the sports field and pavilion.

There is one vacancy on the Council and the Council may co-opt at a future meeting of the Council. 

All existing Councillors will retire in 2015 and will need to seek re-election.  Elections will be held in May 2015.
