The Parish Council is the first tier of local government for the Parish of Lidlington within the Unitary Authority ward of Cranfield and Marston. There are nine councillors who are elected every four years, of which there is a Chairman and Vice Chairman who are both elected annually. The Parish Council is a statutory body set up to serve and represent the residents of the Parish.
The Parish Council is the Lighting Authority for the parish although some street lights are controlled by the unitary authority. The Council administers the allotments in Sheep Tick End and controls contracts for the grass cutting of certain verges and amenity areas.
The Parish Council is a consultee for planning applications submitted to the local planning authority Central Bedfordshire Council, and finally the Parish Council works in close contact with the Village Hall Management Committee and Lidlington United Sports Club, the organisations that manage the village hall and sports field plus pavilion.
